Shutting down oxidation not only protects the integrity of your client’s hair, it also protects the integrity of your work and the final results. Malibu C Educator Davie Woodard talks about how you can economically and effectively shut down the oxidation process.
Q: With all of the innovations coming out in the beauty realm, what makes Malibu C De-Ox stand out to you?
Davie Woodard:The simplicity of it really stood out to me.. It is super easy to use, has safe ingredients, and works fast.
Q: How do you know if you need to use De-Ox?
DW: I reach for De-Ox if I use anything with developer in it. Every client I color gets a De-Ox treatment. Think of it like this: If you start the car, you’ll need to shut the car off, too.

Q: Why is De-Ox important for both stylists and clients alike?
DW: De-Ox is important for the integrity and security of the client’s hair health. I want to ensure my client leaves with the best hair I can provide them with. That means shutting down all oxidation within 60 seconds, otherwise it will continue oxidizing for up to 48 hours.
Q: Can you explain your process with this client?
DW: We did a whole head of babylights using Trionics developers and Olaplex. Then, I shut down the oxidation with Malibu C De-Ox when each section was done processing. I shampooed out the lightener using Malibu C Un-Do-Goo to keep her cuticle open with the high pH. I then toned and gave her a shadow root. After processing, I used De-Ox to completely shut down the oxidation of the shadow root. I finished her color using Malibu C Hydrate Color Wellness Shampoo and Malibu Blondes Enhancing Conditioner.
