Matrix Takes Over the Pink Carpet for Super Sync in LA
3 Trending Looks from Matrix's Pink Carpet Event
Here, we’re breaking down three head-turning looks created especially for the event by Spellman, Matrix Technical Director Lenny Strand (@lennystrand), and Matrix Global Brand Ambassador Constance Robbins (@constancerobbins)—and sharing the pro tips you need to get the Super Sync party started in your salon.

Smoky Bronde
This dimensional brunette with toasted-caramel ribbons woven throughout is the perfect blend of cozy and cool. “Super Sync is my go-to for toning after lightening, especially when I want to neutralize without dulling,” says Spellman. “It’s also clutch for gray blending or refreshing ends on brunettes who don’t want full root-to-tip color.”
Recreate the Look:
- Section for controlled dimension, then apply face-framing highlights for a subtle, sun-kissed effect using High Riser and 10-Volume Developer.
- Apply Super Sync in 4NN to cover grays. “This model was 85% gray and I was able to completely cover all of her grays in 20 minutes with 10-Volume Developer,” says Spellman.
- Melt everything together, toning down the warmth in some areas and boosting richness in others. Spellman used Super Sync 4N with a splash of 4A for the root melt, and equal parts 8M and 8P on the ends.
Pro Tip: “Apply Super Sync to towel-dried hair for more even saturation, especially when doing an all-over gloss, and emulsify before rinsing—it helps lock in that tone and shine,” says Spellman. “And don’t sleep on these toners, the pre-blended shades are money but you can also cocktail them for custom results.”

Opalescent Blonde
This “Old Money Blonde” plays with both silver and gold undertones, giving it a dimensional, opalescent finish that’s soft yet high impact, according to Strand. You get a hint of warmth, a touch of cool at the base, and a super-rich result that feels effortlessly expensive.
Recreate the Look:
- For up to nine levels of lift, apply High Riser and 30-Volume Developer to the base.
- Where hair is previously lightened, switch to Light Master and 20-Volume Developer for a gentle refresh that preserves integrity while boosting brightness.
- Next, reach for Super Sync and apply equal parts 10NV and 6P to the base to hit that silvery-gold sweet spot. Then, melt into 11P on the ends for a radiant finish.
Pro Tip: When creating lowlights, think one level lighter than your target shade and always account for porosity. “You’ll want to formulate a bit lighter and warmer to get the color just right,” says Strand.

Citrus Ginger
“Ginger can look really beautiful on every skin tone and texture of hair,” says Robbins. “It adds, a lot of warmth and sparkle to any complexion.” The pro routinely reaches for Super Sync when creating her signature reds because of its ability to lift and shift lighter bases while delivering dimensional, high-shine color that covers gray. It also delivers a softer grow-out, making it perfect for budget-conscious clients looking to prolong their color a few extra weeks.
Recreate the Look:
- Add soft dimension with High Riser and 20-Volume and 30-Volume Developer. Constance used her signature flower-petal balayage technique in an open-air application to subtly break up any darkness and old highlights—no major color correction needed.
- Using Super Sync, apply equal parts 6CG, 8CG, and 7CC to the base with 20-Volume Developer to gently lift and brighten.
- For richness and warmth through the mid-lengths and ends, apply Super Sync in 7CC, 8CG, and Clear with 10-Volume Developer for tonal variation, which Robbins says is key for making red look natural and expensive.
Pro Tip: Constance weighs every formula she mixes—not just to track product usage for pricing, but to keep detailed records for future appointments. Whether you’re a solo artist or running a busy salon, tracking formulas and measurements helps streamline services and boost profitability. And with Super Sync’s larger 3 oz. tube (that’s 50% more color than other leading brands), you can stretch every dollar even further.
