Frizz is a well-known challenge for those with waves, curls and coils, especially because these textures tend to be dryer than others. To create volume, minimize frizz and elongate curls, check out these the pro tips by KurlPro Eductaor, Katie Merriman.
Diffusing:
- Use a professional diffuser that lets you adjust the ions for more control.
Pro Tip: Begin diffusing at the root, rather than midway or at the ends. This will help to prevent dryness and frizz, while also stopping the roots from laying flat and untouched.
- Beginning at the crown of the head, make your hand into a claw-like shape and slightly lift the root.
- Take the diffuser and place it over your hand to protect the scalp from too much heat.
Pro Tip: Don’t overmanipulate the hair. Take your time and stay in one place for approximately 20 seconds for even definition throughout the hair.
- You may also slide your fingers in and slightly up on the roots to add more volume.
Pro Tip: In order to avoid shrinkage and keep curls elongated, take the ends of the hair, set them on the diffuser, and hold them out and away from the head.
Pro Tip: Stretch out the curls as you diffuse to elongate the hair.
