Cutting curly hair can be a seemingly daunting task, even for the most talented and trained beauty professionals. Although stylists may use techniques, like sectioning and over direction, many clients are still left with an edge or ledge that makes their hair appear choppy. In this video, KurlPro Educator, Kristin Gray, shares her key techniques for easily creating a seamless cut that softens the look of edges and enhances curls.

As shown on the model with Helix 4 and 5 curl type, stylists should begin in section 1 at the densest part of the hair. Stylists can then over direct the hair, while maintaining low tension and remaining 90 degrees off the head shape. By adding a twisting method to the over directed hair, it creates a more seamless cut that rids curls of harsh edges.
