Welcome to SalonCentric’s new series called “enVISION your future” where we hope to help guide you towards turning your career dreams into reality. Through the use of a powerful tool known as the vision board, we want to inspire you in setting your intentions for the New Year as well as in manifesting your goals and dreams. We’ll guide you through the vision board creation process while also providing inspiration and motivation from fellow industry artists and superstars with their vision boards, and how the practice has been successful for them. With this series, our hope is to help you towards achieving greater focus, fulfilling purpose and meaningful growth in your career.

“My Mama La taught me the magic of a vision board from a young age,” says Jennifer Latona (@jennielatona), L'Oréal Professionnel National Artist. “And I use this tool in my everyday life.” For Latona, and others who have tapped into the power of visualization, a vision board has become a necessary and indispensable part of daily life. Here, she talks about what vision boarding means for her.

Why do you create vision boards?

A vision board is a way of visually representing your aims, whether they’re financial, romantic, spiritual or something else entirely. Creating a vision board is an inexpensive and creative way of connecting with your desires for the future. When you create a vision board, you’re identifying your vision and dreams in a physical way while also reinforcing your daily affirmations.

What makes a vision board powerful?

Vision boards are rooted in the Law of Attraction. The concept is best understood by embracing that ‘like attracts like'. What this means is that whether we realize it or not, we are responsible for bringing both positive and negative influences into our lives. A key part of the Law of Attraction is identifying that where you place your focus has an intense impact on what happens to you. If you spend your days wallowing in regret about the past or fears of the future, you’ll likely see more negativity appearing. But if you look for the silver lining in every experience, then you’ll start to see positivity surrounding you every day. The Law of Attraction encourages you to see that you have the freedom to take control of how your future develops, shaping it in the ways you choose.

When you learn how to use the many powerful and practical tools associated with the Law of Attraction, you can start living and thinking in a more optimistic way that is specifically designed to attract even more positive events and experiences. Whatever you’re longing for, whatever your dreams and goals, the Law of Attraction can teach you valuable lessons that will bring you closer to your most treasured ambitions.

Creative visualization is a cornerstone of applying the Law of Attraction, and meditative exercises are part of this process. For example, you are encouraged to spend 10-15 minutes a day on building an increasingly detailed image of the life you want to develop. Be as creative in your visualization process as you like.

Any tips for creating or using vision boards?

Placing your vision board in your office, or on the wall of your bedroom is great practice. You can have them there in the background keeping you motivated and within your subconscious. Before you know it, you will be living out the dreams on your vision board. See. Believe. Receive. Repeat.
