Matrix Spring Color trends

Spring is officially here, which means more than warmer temperatures. In salons across the country, clients’ most requested hair colors are also embracing the warmth of the season.

“The hottest hair color trends that we will see in Spring 2024 are definitely brondes, coppers and reds,” says Matrix ambassador Sharon Spellman (@sharon.simplyinsane). “Many clients went darker for winter this year, so brightening up their look will definitely be on the radar.”

One of Spellman’s favorite products for achieving a variety of hair colors is Matrix Tonal Control, which is now available in 10 new shades that are calibrated to warm up coppers, reds, and blondes. The acidic gel-cream toners are pre-bonded and offer multi-dimensional results that will last up to 24 washes with high shine and no lift.

“I love the new Tonal Control warm shades in 9GV for blondes which is my personal favorite, 8GV for sandy blondes and 9NW for neutral soft blondes,” says Sharon.

“The reason I love using Tonal Control so much is because I’m easily able to take full creative control in any situation I might be in behind the chair,” says Sharon. “The fact that Tonal Control has gradual, visible oxidation allows me to constantly see when the toner has fully processed, which eliminates any guessing games and ultimately saves me time behind the chair. I’ll be using all my go-to Tonal Control shades this spring because we all know time is money, honey.”

Here, Sharon highlights two of the hottest Spring 2024 hair color trends that you can recreate for clients in the salon using Tonal Control.

Warm Blonde: This versatile hair color, which is a combination of blonde and brunette, is low-maintenance and looks great all year round. It’s perfect for blondes that want to add some depth to their hair and is ideal for brunettes who want to add brightness to their look. It’s a great way to switch up one’s look without doing anything too dramatic or drastic. “I use Tonal Control in 5NGA and 6NGA to melt the roots into a beautiful bronde baller on the ends which is my personal favorite, 9NGA with a splash of 8C for richness.”

Coppers and Reds: One of the most in-demand looks over the past year that exploded in popularity on TikTok, cowgirl copper is inspired by Western leather’s rich undertones and is a cross between red and brunette. The best part about this look is that the color can be adjusted cooler or warmer based on skin tone. For coppers and reds, Spellman uses Tonal Control in 7R, 8CR and 8C depending on the client’s desired end result.
