Matrix made waves in 2018 with the launch of SOCOLOR Cult (Cult), and now the legacy hair color brand is partnering with the god of vivid color, Rickey “Hairgod” Zito (@hairgod_zito) to release the Rickey “Hairgod” Zito X Cult collaboration. Featuring four distinctive shades that reflect Zito’s personal vision, the collection reflects his unique artistic vision and rebellious approach to hair color. Each shade—Ruby Red, Bambino Blue, Fruit Punch and Sea Monster—demonstrates the magic of a unique partnership that only Zito and Matrix can create. It also showcases how the Matrix brand continues to innovate while addressing the needs of colorists who love pushing their creative boundaries.

An official brand ambassador for Matrix, Zito has partnered with brand since 2018 in launching the Cult collection, a range of vivid color shades in semi-permanent, demi-permanent and permanent technologies. Since its creation, Zito has collaborated with the brand to create showstopping and trending looks at shows, events and on Instagram where he has amassed a following of over 500,000+ followers. This next step is a natural evolution and only deepens the partnership by showcasing how Matrix emphasizes connection to its artists. “I initially got into the brighter colors as a form of rebellion,” says Zito. “But then I focused all my time and energy on trying to make vivids look expensive. When SOCOLOR Cult came around it made my job easy.”

“I was so eager to collaborate with Cult because of the performance of the product. The creaminess is perfect, the saturation is spot on,” says Zito. “I like to consider myself a mad scientist at times, so it was amazing to meet with the SOCOLOR research and development team. They’re very educated. They really know their colors and how to formulate, and it was an amazing feeling to see the shades I envisioned come out so perfectly from the lab to the shelf.”
